We would always recommend that you get your child's feet properly measured by a recognised shoe fitter. Once you have received your child's new shoes these are the guidelines to follow to make sure they fit correctly. Make sure the shoe is fully open With you child seated place the shoes on each foot and fasten firmly. Holding your child's ankle pull the shoe at the heel to make sure it is not slipping. Check there is no gap at heel with fingers and that the ankle bone is not rubbing on the inside of the shoe. Check that the widest part of the foot is at the widest part of the shoe and this will ensure that there is sufficient room at the end of the shoe without pressing down on the toe. Check the depth by feeling for surplus of fabric across front of the shoe too much will indicate the shoe is too wide and too little that the shoe is too tight. Check the width by pressing on the widest part of the foot if the joint is too prominent the shoe is to tight and if you have to press in to find the joint the shoe is too wide. Ask your child to walk in the shoes to make sure the are comfortable and not slipping. |
